Vale Christopher Downie 1946 – 2012

Christopher Downie died of a heart attack in Venice on November 9, 2012.

Downie was an artist and he worked as a full time lecturer at COFA from 1978 until 1986, and part time until 1988.

During this period he was also one of the founding members of The Ultimo Project.

Downie also worked at the Contemporary Art Space in Darwin, The Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art, Chameleon Contemporary Art Space and Contemporary Art Space in Tasmania and The Noosa Regional Gallery. He gained an MFA from Birmingham University UK and was in the process of completing a Master of Arts TESOL at UTS, Sydney.
