Student Opportunity: Exhibit in the MLC Centre

The Mint Partners, a Sydney based communication agency, are seeking interests in the opportunity to exhibit at the MLC Centre.

The Centre currently has a vacant shop space and they would love to support young up and coming Sydney designers by providing them with the opportunity to display their work in the store over the Christmas period in December / January. The space has a large shop front so students would not have to man the store if they wish students could provide contact details for anyone interested in their work.

Student opportunity: Short term creative spaces

City of Sydney has engaged Brand X, non-profit arts organisation, to provide new and unique creative businesses with city-owned spaces.

Brand X is now inviting creative project submissions for consideration. Successful applicants may have the opportunity to be matched to a suitable city-owned spaces when available. The selected projects will then enter into a short term license with the City at a rental rate of $100 per week (excluding GST and outgoings).

TURF showcases art by public housing residents in a full scale traveling replica of a public housing unit.

It will run at Gladstone Park, Balmain from Nov 30-Dec 2, 9am-5pm and at Surry Hills Library Court Dec 5-9, 9am-10pm.

They are seeking COFA students to volunteer and help to manage the exhibition space.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: Creative Live Work Spaces

City of Sydney and Gaffa are facilitating six tenancy opportunities to individuals working in the creative industries.

Six one bedroom creative William Street live work apartments in a centrally located apartment block in Darlinghurst are now available and will provide working studios and residential accommodation for creative practitioners. Tenancies will begin from March 2014.

Artists and creatives are invited to apply for one of six residencies for 12 months.

Applications will be assessed considering experience, creative practice, ability to partner and collaborate with other local artists.

A residential lease agreement will be established between the successful applicant and the City of Sydney. Rent will be charged at $250.00 per week for the duration of the lease and a bond of one month’s rent will be required.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: Intern at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery Hong Kong

10 Chancery Lane Gallery in Hong Kong is offering an internship to one English speaker and one English and Cantonese speaker.

The internship will commence on February 10 and finish in June 2014.

It will involve gallery operations, exhibition preparation, press, preparation for Art Basel 2014 and collateral events.

To be eligible for the internship, you should be proficient in Word and Excel. Experience in design software is desirable.

Eramboo Artist Environment in Terrey Hills is seeking proposals from artists, curators and writers for its Artist Residencies and Exhibitions programs for 2014.

Visiting Artists Residency Program: Studio and basic accommodation will be supplied by Eramboo from 1 week to 3 months maximum.  No deadline.

Studio Artist Program: Artists who would like studio space for twelve months, plus a professional development program and potential exhibition/s. Deadline: Dec 5, 2013.

Exhibition Proposals: for artists/curators wanting to organise their own exhibitions.
Ongoing Call Out: Eramboo’s artistic directors will curate a series of collaborative works from artists working in a variety of media. Deadline: Feb 15, 2014.
